POWERING THE LAST MILE
More than 2.3 million Filipino homes still have no access to electricity. CREST supports the rural electrification of communities in missionary areas and families whose homes are in hard-to-reach communities. We explore different innovations in technologies and financing to help last-mile communities access clean and dependable renewable energy.

CREST has helped provide household electrification to Dumagat families and small upland farmers in the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. Under a socialized solar lease scheme, families can own their preferred solar PV unit and capacity at flexible payment terms. The scheme allows CREST to support more families who wish to have their own solar home system. More than 50 Dumagat families are already benefiting under the program.

One of the earliest community microgrid projects of CREST, this solar PV system provides electricity to Punduhan ng mga Dumagat, a transient village used by travelling Dumagat families leaving or entering the Angat Watershed in Bulacan.

The 6 cubic meter anaerobic biodigester processes the kitchen waste of more than 100 households daily. The system produces biogas, a clean fuel that is used by the staff for cooking. Another by-product of the system is the digestate, a slurry with high-nitrogen content that is an effective soil conditioner.

Clean, renewable energy powers the communication radio station used by members of the Bulacan Provincial Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force. The radio station and tower is located in the Angat Watershed, Bulacan.
RE RESTORATION
Many adaptors of renewable energy technologies encountered problems in the operation of their systems due to equipment failure, lack of technical support and poor maintenance. CREST helps revive these non-performing assets so that owners can continue to enjoy the benefits of green energy.
