Project Description
Case Study: Women’s Energy Needs in Climate Impacted Communities
Ruth Anne Larracas
2023
Energy use in high and low-income countries differ remarkably, and these differences are further spelled out between families and communities within the same country, or even within the same families or households. Energy use during and after disasters may also be different, particularly for different genders.
This paper aims to provide an initial understanding of the energy needs of women in climate change vulnerable communities, especially during and after a disaster. This understanding is critical in order to assess how women’s energy needs are met and addressed during and after disasters, and the policy, regulatory, programmatic, or strategic solutions that can be offered in order to address these needs.
